Experience
Ongoing Destinations Travel Magazine
Travel writer: In September 2012 I bgean writing for Destinations Travel Magazine. My first article, '10 Tips for the Lone Traveller', appeared in the October edition.
Summer 2012 Huffington Post
Travel writer: During June, July and August 2012 I wrote over a dozen articles for the Huffington Post as part of a series, 'Track Records', from a major trip I took from London to Vietnam by rail. These articles included stories from the Trans Siberian Railway and the many great cities I visited along the way.
Ongoing We Blog the World
Blogger: I have written a series of articles for major international travel and culture site, We Blog the World. My writing for WBTW includes various stories from my trip to South East Asia, a piece about daydreaming on the TGV in France, and a train journey into the vortex.
Ongoing Boutique Editions - MIPIM, MAPIC, MIPCOM
Contract publishing: I contribute to a range of titles published by contract publisher Boutique Editions on behalf of French exhibition and trade show organiser Reed MIDEM. These include daily news magazines for major real estate indsutry events MAPIC and MIPIM, and broadcast industry show MIPCOM.
Ongoing 160Characters
News & features writer: I write news and in-depth analysis for 160Characters, a dedicated site covering the SMS, mobile web and telecoms industry. 160Characters covers the big issues affecting the SMS industry, as well as news from the exciting worlds of smart phone developments, apps, m-commerce, NFC, mobile payments and telecoms security.
Ongoing Freelance features
Features writer: I have continued to write freelance features for a range of publications, including an ongoing commission from Retail Week writing mainly property features. These include a recent piece on the rise in the use of leisure space in retail property developments, and an overview of the Irish retail market.
March 2011 The Grocer, Crawley
Newsdesk cover: In March I worked at the Grocer on various newsdesk shifts, writing mainly news and some longer features for the print magazine and online. I produced a series of stories during this time relating to a range of retailers and suppliers.
Ongoing Oliver Kinross, London
Conference producer: I carry out thorough and detailed research on various sectors of the energy industry including oil and smart metering. This leads to comprehensive conference draft agendas which will serve as the basis of major two-day conferences in London and internationally. I have also written marketing material for the conferences and review reports after they have taken place.
Contract, December 2010 Visit Britain
Researcher/writer: I conducted a large amount of research and data compilation leading to a series of features as part of a major project overhauling the Visit Britain website. This entailed thorough research skills and the ability to compose concise, entertaining features to suit a travel audience.
Contract, August 2010 Mark Elliot, London/Suffolk

Freelance PR: I successfully tendered for a contract to oversee all of the marketing and PR for bespoke handmade furniture retailer Mark Elliot. My brief was to secure editorial coverage for the company in various national media including newspapers and magazines, which I achieved by calling on a wide contact base and producing a campaign of effective and targeted press releases.

Reporter: I initially stood in for a reporter who was on assignment for two months, covering key roles on the newsdesk. I have researched and written numerous stories and features which appeared in print and online in The Sun, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph and others.
Contract, August 2009 Innesco, London

Account Manager: During my time at PR firm Innesco I handled several major accounts serving clients in the commercial property industry. I also helped win two large new accounts. This was a demanding role in which I needed to adapt to successfully represent a diversity of clients and deal confidently with the national media.

Reporter and Feature Writer: This demanding role saw me produce a heavy weekly workload of news and features for a readership of around 40,000. I was responsible for a large portion of the magazine’s news and a double page feature a week, and edited a weekly email alert including a personal column.
May 2007 Film4. Zone, London
Pictures Desk Assistant: I worked for a month on the pictures desk at Film4, researching and editing images for the Film4 website.
